Childlike Joy and Play!

Hey loves! Claudia here...pondering on fun and joy today. đź’š

As a kid, I remember thinking that adults didn’t seem to have much fun.

There seemed to be a lot of working and doing all the things adults do, but not a whole lot of the “fun” stuff.

Adult life seemed to be SO very serious most of the time.

As an adult myself, I’ve had to keep a check on balancing all the responsibilities and “adulting” with fun, play and joy in general.

I’ve always felt that we’re here in this world to experience the magic of being alive, and to really embody the mystery of life.

To really BE and not just DO…that we’re not put on this world to only work hard, pay taxes and then expire.

We’re here to in-joy this great mystery, this incredible journey that is each of our individual lives.

And sometimes this isn’t so easy. Both Jason & I are Capricorns, which makes us innately geared to be responsible and build like the serious goats of our zodiac signs…lol!

And this is where being childlike—and being aware of maintaining that balance in life—comes in.

My favorite adults are those who are, or at least have the ability to be, childlike. Which is very different from childish!

Childlike is having the ability to see the world with a sense of awe. To play and laugh until your belly hurts. To lose yourself in the magic all around you.

To be utterly genuine and completely yourself no matter what. To understand the importance of fun and frolicking and being silly…and so much more!

And I LOVE being childlike…! Whoever said you have to “grow up” and be serious?? Why can’t you grow up and become even more childlike??

One of my favorite books is The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu.

These two men are both elders, spiritual masters and in very exalted positions, and yet they are so very childlike that it brings one joy just to witness them!

I met the Dalai Lama after going to a talk that he gave at my college, and even though I don’t remember the talk, I absolutely remember the sense of joy that he exuded…the childlike smile and laughter that he had.

He was such a beautiful example of walking in the lightness of being. Of making joy and happiness a part of your Self and your Life.

THE INVITATION FOR TODAY

Today I would love to invite you to remember to imbibe a sense of play into your day, your week, your month…and your life!

To be conscious of filling your cup with laughter and play in whatever way feels good to you, and in whatever way you can get it!

For me, sometimes it’s playing with my nephews and niece, fully immersed in fantasy land.

Other times it’s getting lost in reels of the silly things cats and dogs do (I can laugh out loud by myself for literally hours with these!).

Play and joy can mean so many things. Different things at different times.

What makes you shine today?

Take a walk in nature and really feel the magic around you.

Watch some stand-up comedy and laugh until your cheeks hurt.

Bring out your favorite board games and play with some friends.

Whatever it is for YOU, make time for play.

Make time for fun, for laughter, for magic…and for bringing out that inner child who always lives within.

Because maybe growing up was never supposed to mean leaving that part of ourselves behind. ❤️

Wishing you love and joy today and every day!
