Foundational Breath

Most people breathe 20,000 times a day without thinking about it.

But how you breathe changes everything.

Feel scattered, overstimulated, or just off? There's a breath for that.

Foundational Breath is one of the first things we teach, not because it's complex, but because of how profoundly simple it is. It's the doorway to connection with the body. All you have to do is be intentional about it.

Three parts:

✨ Inhale through the nose
✨ Gently hold for about 4 counts
✨ Exhale through the mouth

From there, you choose your variation based on what you need:

Overwhelmed? Exhale gently. Watch the noise soften.
Need focus? Try Ujjayi (slightly constrict the throat while you breathe out the mouth). Feel your mind sharpen.
Carrying something heavy? Exhale with an audible sigh. Let it move through you.

This is the practice that lives underneath the practice. Before the ceremony. Before the business meeting. Before the meditation. Before that hard conversation. Before anything else, we breathe.
